He encouraged colours to bleed through the room and inspire the audience to draw and ignite his performance further. The viewers interacted within one off performance.

Society has conditioned us to view vomiting as a vulgar act, by challenging this with opposite emotions and visual aspects I have changed the context to my idea of beauty. Two exhibitions. Two Cities

Underground on BROADWAY is a London built exhibition of young, emerging British talent showing in New York this summer. Made up of nine artists’ work, the show is eclectic in both medium and specific subject, a collection of early inspiration, showing how these initial pieces play off one another in terms of style and raw imagination.

Spontaneous and exciting, Pop-Up New York is a handful of New York’s young artists, gathered to spring up next to the London show. Working in a range of mediums this group show is an array of visual reaction, with artists responding to their surrounding influences and situations. Reflective of New York, the show will run alongside Underground on BROADWAY providing an energy filled visual dialogue that will allow both shows to feed off one another.

Underground on BROADWAY and Pop-Up New York will be an unique and interactive experience aiming to involve both the artists and viewers of each of its home towns. The growth of the Underground show has been constantly documented on a blog, initially in London and now in New York to let everyone across the pond know what’s going on. On opening night there will be music, filming, live web streams back to England, the opportunity to text artists not present at the opening, and an atmosphere lively with ideas and thoughts from two cities miles apart. Truly innovative, these shows look to manipulate what modern communication can offer, as well as presenting some of the most exciting art these cities’ young talent can offer.

Not to be missed come to the OPENING PARTY on the 1st of July for a preview unlike any other.

These include young Emirati designer Noor Al Khaja with German designer Sven Mueller guiding BA students on a public design tour of Art Dubai; Leanne Elliott and Ita Maude-Wooler who will lead RART, an award-winning London-based art collective, which focuses on drawing and performance; and Mohammad Ali AerosolArabic, who fuses graffiti-art with Islamic calligraphy and patterns. "Drawing Touch" By Kimble Bumstead

Drawing Touch is a response to Kimbal's recent travel project "In Transit" in which he traveled overland through Russia, Mongolia and China to Vietnam making performances along the way. The performances all followed the same premise that the audience would be touched and involved in producing/ documenting an installation. Kimbal's work looks at the ways in which audiences respond to physical interaction, touch and control. For First Thursdays at the Cat and Mutton he will combine elements from his performances "In Transit" focusing on drawing as a form of documenting a performance.

RART's PUBLIC LIFE DRAWING takes an interactive slant. These Thursday sessions at the beginning of each month will house a performance by a profiled Artist. With materials and tools selected by RART you will be asked to draw along, observe and at times interact with the artists. Each session will be approached as the artist requests and will inspire artistic discussion: be it verbal, physical or metaphysical.

RART PUBLIC Life Drawing review-

First, take everything you envisage about a life-drawing class: the serene class room, the hushed atmosphere, the strange sense of unease concerning the colossal personage around which every easel is positioned, and throw it out. This is a whole new approach, what the Sex Pistols did for rock n roll, RART are doing for life-drawing- a new edgy, vibrant, dynamic and sexy slant on a staple of every artist’s basic skill set.

A primary difference in the scheme of things is the class happens in the upstairs venue of a pub- the Cat and Mutton at the London Fields end of Broadway Market. After getting a drink from the bar, you ascend a spiral staircase and find yourself in an expansive room which has a feel of rugged magnificence- it’s not difficult to imagine the history of the place, during its early days in the 1700’s it was a hang out for East Anglian cattle traders.

Professional artists, Ita Maude Wooller and Leanne Eliot are the organisers and teachers of the class: glamorous Twenty-somethings who are always clad (for some reason best known to themselves) in identical white boiler suits. Their passion for Art exudes from them and feeds into the rest of the room during the session; they have a knack for putting people at their ease, friendly, approachable and enthusiastic about everyone’s work (mine being pretty poor, having scraped my GCSE Art).

As Leanne told me after the session “Well, the dynamics change intrinsically when you move from a classroom or studio into a pub, its more free, less restraint and tension. Life drawing is a practice that has become stagnant over the years, and our method of teaching breaks through this. Ita and I call the shots, dictate to the artists what materials to use and how long to use them for, so that any questioning or self-doubt is erased, and most of the time this creates a successful piece.”

The lesson plan is progressively fast-pace, with a time limit for each rendering, where the girls prescribe which materials to use. There is an exciting urgency to the evening, as Ita and Leanne force you to ‘warm up’ with some quick sketches, then move on to some longer explorations, during which the girls move about the room encouraging, goading, bullying (in a nice way) you into making your own interpretation of the form in front of you, usually an attractive young model from the area who is being paid in wine (Ita: “Look at Emma’s tits, they’re great tits, look at their contours!” ).

At the end of the class, you are invited to hang your work on the wall, and after a drink interval, the class moves round this ad-hock exhibition to discuss what everyone has drawn. Leanne and Ita speak animatedly about the class’s drawings, and every participant is asked about their work- something which could be daunting in other situations. There is a jovial and positive atmosphere to this part of the evening, and you always leave with a sense of satisfaction and personal improvement as everyone’s drawings get better as the class wears on.

I’d recommend this class to anyone who enjoys drawing in the slightest- whether you’re a beginner, out of practice (the last time I picked up a piece of charcoal was 2002) or an experienced artist, its a fun, affordable evening out- perfect to go to alone, with friends or on a date.

This electrifying new collection of photographs, objects and texts exposes and celebrates the art works that no longer exist, the happenings and past thought processes of the intrinsically stimulating artists who made the exhibition and four day art party, PAUSE AND EFFECT (1.5) part of the RART Manifesto Series, a reality.

This retrospective exhibition works as the less transient and frenzied facet of the duplex that makes up the PAUSE AND EFFECT duo. This show (Pause and Effect 1.75) offers us never seen before records of the previous exhibition and through documentation of works that have now been destroyed this new exposition is the only opportunity to relive and view the experience. It will be shown through the medium of 2d documentation, stills, re workings of video pieces, text and 3d objects of curiosity. This will retrospectively sketch out the four days that made up the 1st pause and effect exhibition from the view of the third person.

Pause and Effect 1.75 is an important show of 20 fresh emerging artists’ work. These artists changed a baron space into a throbbing forum, culminating in an exhibition and art party. There were casualties along the way and some of the artists involved in the original show are sadly no longer with us. The only proof of the existence of those specific work will be shown here, so not only are there many vibrant growing opinions glowing from the walls, there are also voices and prose that are only to be recounted here.

The curators, Ita M Wooller and Leanne Elliott, have no dogmatic position; nothing is perverted from the artists’ intentions in the show, apart from perhaps the fact that the phenomenon of the art party is more than the sum of its individual stories.

Art into new ART is a perfect medium to explore the experience of moving across time and inspiration brackets. International touring shows are still rare and we are lucky that this exhibition is making its debut in London before it travels to New York, Ibiza and Scotland.

Being part of a show in which the work is slowly birthed in the viewers' gaze alongside fellow exhibitors' pieces felt gutsy, organic and exciting. The ever-maturing embryonic works moved and weaved amongst each other seeking a place that complemented the others. The performances were happily disparate, no clichés lumping them together, they seemed to come and go freely, nothing was forced.

"The show, from day 1, happens to be very experimental and performative in reality as the process of working towards the show is very central. The last performance being the demolition of the work. It was a great opportunity to integrate with other artists through 5 days of the project. It gave me lots of inspiration and ideas that will lead my work to the next level. Having to deconstruct our work a few hours after we finished it gives fragility to the moment and the space. It started from an empty space. As the artists evolved, with the making of their work, I've witnessed a space that has changed radically. From nothing to the appearance of a messy studio full of hard working and joyful artists. Little by little, tools, wooden bits, video equipment filled up the space, along with the remain of the performances (Angus' planes tired apart, Konstantina's pot of paintings). The works were finalised just before the private view, which leave such a short time to curate the ultimate show ready for an opening night. And that is to combine with the arrival of the thursday night performers! It felt like we were the musicians of a big philharmonic orchestra, scattered around, and still doing last minute rehearsal until orchestrator s, Ita and Leanne positions the finished work before the audience arrives. construction, contextualizing, communicating, curating and finally deconstructing brought together an exciting group of young artists, each dealing with their own diverse artistic pursuit whilst collaborating with others. For me it was a great experience allowing experimentation with new ideas and the re-evaluation of old ones. As well as the show being very successful I feel it had an important comment on the frailty and the beauty of the moment of the act of creation. Once work is taken into a gallery and out of its context where it was produced often it looses its relevance and potency. It was great to locate art fully in a particular present.” Jack Brindley

The RART Manifesto Series investigates the constructing of art and is used as a medium to communicate and build RART’s manifesto. For the entirety of the exhibition the artists will have the freedom to use the warehouse space as an exhibition space and simultaneously a studio space. An area for artists to work together feeding off each other’s practice in a vibrancy which is unique and specific to the RART Collective.

PAUSE AND EFFECT (1.5) is a pregnant hyphen between Manifesto1. and Manifesto 2.

The exhibition is feeding on the finite energy of these fresh artists blood. Visual, Audio and performance artists will inhabit this artistic forum like an infestation of complex thoughts building up to a swell of misplaced conclusions and thought out arguments. All these new site specific works are approaching the private view together to create something greater than the sum of its parts.

In a continuation of questions raised in Manifesto 1. PAUSE AND EFFECT (1.5) will be exploring, deeper, and championing, harder, the deconstruction of our everyday surroundings to create a different visual language.

It will exist as a 5 day intensifying ART PARTY constantly open to the public, and stand proud as a testament to individual and collective art process.

All the exhibiting artists proposals for PAUSE AND EFFECT (1.5) stand perverted as site specifics works as they are all designed to the specifics of other venues, thus contorted and wrenched ready to be viewed in a different context, forcing manipulation throughout the inhabitance.

19.00- 19.15 an enforced daily PAUSE of open critique.

' any attempt to document a thought process proves itself to be as futile as the uroboros - Caught in an endless, entropic loop, unable to catch up with the moment of actuality it is chasing.'

The exhibition will culminate with a party where performances will take place before all works will be as publicly deconstructed as they were constructed.

DAVID ANGUS 'DV Interruptions' David Angus is a contemporary artist primarily working with photography and video, although his practice has developed incorporating performance and sculpture. His work deals primarily with light and space. Exploring spaces defined by light and examining how light can be used to define a pictorial image, through this experimentation light becomes a theatrical intervention and servers as a device in the creation of his work. Recent work explores ideas of perspective and pictorial space and his wider practice encompasses concerns around structural and materialist movements of the 1960’s and 1970’s.

EMMA LOUISE BOULDING 'Engaged' The creative processes involved in Boulding’s work are induced via a meditative state of mind or “flat-line” consciousness, on the luminal edge or peripheries of where the conscious meets subconscious. Boulding attempts to recondition her mind and enters into a state where no conscious thoughts or mental activity occurs. Channelling of information and Remote Viewing of particular events in space and time will be depicted as various assemblages of a personal language in two-dimensional ideograms.

ANGUS H BRAITHWAITE 'Failures of aviation' Angus works in live event, specifically exploring these events in their second hand format; there is an uncertainty of the real where narrative can become confused and myths created. Playing with the documentation of performance where sometimes all is left is the promise of what might have been, the tattered remains of a live event most did not see. Nostalgic yet contemporary the work sits in a time that never was and revels in an uncertain and romanticized past.

JACK BRINDLEY ''Objective Deliberation - Ad Infinitum' Jacks current practice explores the hidden structures of language. With a combination of text, painting and installation the presentation of his work attempts to illuminate the perplexities that we encounter everyday as we endeavor to comprehend the world around us. The paintings strive towards a state of objectivity through a comprehensive understanding of display and presentation.

DAN –CORBEY- BRISTOW 'Big Wood' Bristow playfully exposes the folly of a mere passing glance with his beautifully crafted sculptures, rewarding the virgin eye with a disjointed symbolism and harmony of misconjoined materials that together seek a more immutable and mellifluous position in the creative stream.

DORI DENG & META DRCAR 'Measuring No.1' Dori and Meta have been collaborating in the Performing Arts since the end of their Fine Art degree course. Their shared interests in live performance, contemporary dance, light projection and sound became the foundation of their collaboration and their work always generates from The Space. They use moving bodies, visuals and sound in an interactive manner with regards to the space, therefore exploring its dimensions and proportions. The new project Measuring, is a series of on-going live performances that explore the measuring of a space using body movement.

SARAH GIFFORD 'Neutral' Sarah Gifford's work focuses on the private and personal moments in life. Her art can be seen as romantic because these secrets are made public. She encourages the audience to witness these moments through 'spontaneous' performances. In the exhibition, she uses a simple costume to create an unidentifiable figure thus exploring the importance of expression.

CORINNE MYNATT 'My dads guns' Corinne Mynatt’s work exists as examinations in politics, gender, sexuality, popular culture, the spectacle and existentialism. Recent works delve into the “society of the spectacle,” the media, and how this in turn creates our perceived reality. Most recently Mynatt has taken the memento mori as a starting point and describing it visually in the most literal of ways such as holding a skeleton and digging a grave with collaborative partner Angus H. Braithwaite.

EMILY PAIGE SHORT ' Horizon' The reflection of the self onto the division of space as perception direction in time lies infinitely between the present body controlled by the vastness of the mind. Horizon a and Horizon b stand at opposite sides of the space facing each other, creating between themselves a hypothetical space in which the viewer is the central anchor point, the cantilever in the circumference of the infinite. A geometric tension stretches incommensurably between the two distortions leaving existence in a condition of tepid flux and suspension. -Emily Paige Short on horizon.

HOLLY SLINGSBY 'What if there's only up?' Slingby is showing What if there’s only up? a video installation that is typical of her current practice, it focuses on a vertical journey and uses this as an image of progress, recovery or healing. In addition it employs simple repetitive action, which is a recurring feature in her work. The formal qualities of the work – in this case the placement of the weighty monitors on the floor and their reflection of each other – are used to emphasis its metaphorical allusions.

ANDREW SUDERLAND 'Neither either nor or' By setting a video camera to autofocus, pointing it towards a blank space, and leaving it. Autofocus attempts to create a truly autonomous piece of work bereft of intent or meaning. The artist has chosen to record 60 of these ‘happenings’ that are ordered and edited differently each time the work is shown in an attempt to create an original. This ordering is decided by a random number generator and time sheet which will be shown with the video.

KIKI TAIRA '3 sticks' Kirika Tairas artwork is inspired by the diverse superstitions of other cultures and the psychology behind superstitious behaviors. Tiara multidisciplinary approach brings together sculpture and Performance contorting ritualistic patterns to perversion through repetition rules and restriction. Metaphor also plays a vital role within the performance via the insinuation of pain, this prevailing once the scale of these everyday life rituals has been distorted.

CHOOC LY TAN 'Verticality' Tan’s performance based video work explores themes of metaphysics through the derision of the sublime by the physical act of falling, raising questions of the nature of being. For the exhibition Tan presents a video installation on three monitors of work from 2008 that features the artist vied against varying Icelandic landscapes.

KONSTANTINIA VAFEIADOU 'Tic Tac toe' Vafeiadou employs the nostalgic lure of simple childhood games to create vibrant performance rich visual experiments. The work is produced by the participant’s strategies and conducted by their decisions, informing an experiential visual game.

ADAM WATTS 'Elevated-Illuminated Pyramids' Adam Watts proposed work deals with the title of the show Pause and Effect quite literally. Watts structures considers the fast paced, impulsive and the consumptive side of society and the struggle to stop and take stock. Watts site specific sculpture will consist of various elements including banners, flags, motors and found images mimicking a production line of sorts.

As part of the European Mobility Week, London Borough of Hackney in association with residents of Whiston Estate and This Is A Canvas Architecture is organizing a week end event on Whiston Estate car park the 19th and 20th of September.

During this weekend there will be a range of activities for families, children and inhabitants of all ages focus on the question of mobility in city. And also concerts, projections, food of the world, information’s stand, exhibitions…

R-ART
Provide a three dimensional blank canvas for local residence to project their concepts onto.

First the residences are inspired by props from RART's found object installation.

Secondly they draw and design in 2d.
Thirdly the residence turn their 2d designs into 3d drawings and recreate them within the space.

Finally they physically inhabit their designs.
